This is about my journey into building dioramas, scale models, and miniature scenes. I’m actively working on projects, and this site shows both finished work and things in progress - mostly notes and ideas for my own benefit.

This Site

With the help of Co-Pilot using Claude Sonnet 4.5, I’m sharing what I’ve been learning about building dioramas and other models. You’ll find build processes, techniques I’ve tried, and the creative journey of bringing these miniature worlds to life. It all started quite recently when I accidentally ended up building a model kit for my grandson, and from there it spiralled into a whole new focus that brings me much joy and comfort.

Traditional English Cottage 1:100 scale scratch build - Traditional Hampshire cottage with authentic flint and brick walls, multi-faceted roof, and detailed cottage garden. Completed October 2025

Henrhyd Falls South Wales 1:250 scale diorama - Authentic representation of Wales' tallest waterfall (27m) with ancient woodland, vertical cliff face, and detailed water effects capturing the temperate rainforest microclimate. Completed November 2025

Plant Displays Series - Ongoing botanical collection - Detailed artistic botanical models featuring leaves, flowers, roots, and seasonal displays for selected plant species. In Progress - Multi-year Project

Sea Rescue 1:50 scale scratch build - Maritime rescue scene featuring rescue vessel in action with dynamic seascape and authentic details. In Progress - Started December 2025
